With a population of 28,250 residents as of January 2007, Beaumont was California's fastest-growing city in 2006. The city is a part of the Riverside-San Bernardino metropolitan area and is located in the San Gorgoino Pass, which connects the east to the sea. The city provides rural charm with rich community life and planned growth.
Post-Secondary Education Over 30 colleges, universities and vocational schools can be found within a 50-mile radius of the town's center. Among the schools is the highly-acclaimed graphic designs school, California State Polytechnic University, otherwise known as Cal Poly. Other schools in the area include Irvine Valley College, University of La Verne and Claremont Graduate University. The area also offers 2 campuses from California's premier public schools system, the University of California system: Irvine and at Riverside.
Elementary and Secondary Education The Beaumont Unified School District provides the city with 10 public grade schools, an alternative school, an adult education center and a resource center. Three schools in the district have recently been nominated for the category of California Distinguished Schools, and Sundance Elementary School was recognized as a National Title I Distinguished School. Some new schools have been constructed with more schools underway. Many older schools have also been renovated with Beaumont High receiving a state-of-the-art aquatic center.
Recreation The Community Services Department provides residents with a variety of recreational programs for the family and for individuals of any age. The department is responsible for special events, facilities such as parks and community centers. Day Camp is provided for children ages 5-13 to have a fun and safe place to go before and after school. The Beaumont Plunge Pool is open during the summer for swimming a lessons and the city also boasts a 20-acre state-of-the-art Sports Park which is a great venue for organized sports and sporting events. Also, with mountain ranges to the north and south, all sorts of outdoor recreation is possible within a short drive. Coachella Valley is also nearby so when the hugely famous spring Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival rolls around, it will be hard to miss. |
